Happy Hollow is going to be closing in a couple weeks for a year long remodel project. Both girls love going here whenever we have a free morning.

Put in Our Place

With having sick kids and going on a mini camping trip we had missed a lot of Sundays at church. I didn't know what to expect from Allie when we went to drop her off in her class. The teachers were great and got her right back into it all perfectly. When I went to pick her up she was happy and so excited to see me.

"Mommy!" as she ran up to me and hugged my legs. Then with the sweetest smile she looked into my eyes and asked "Donut?"

So that's what I've become to my youngest daughter on Sundays.

"No honey. Daddy has a donut for you outside. We need to get your sister from her class first."

After picking Mollie up we went outside and found Scott. Allie ran up to him and gave his legs a big, happy hug.

"Daddy!"

Then she looks up with the sweetest smile and Scott is glowing. He loves his daughters so much. And I'm smiling too, because I know what's coming next.

"You have donut?"

Busy Weekend

June is always a busy month for our fmaily with birthdays and Father's Day. And there is usually something else thrown in like a wedding or graduation. This year it was Mollie finishing preschool and a park afternoon with school friends (Friday) and a dance recital (Saturday afternoon) and an overnight camp out in a friend's backyard (Saturday after dance) then a Father's Day celebration (Sunday).

Barbara decorating her birthday cake with the grandkids last week. Both girls had croup and this activity was about all the fun they could handle.
Mollie's class getting ready to perform "Lollipop."

We all had a fun time with the camp out this weekend. We had delicious food, the girls had a wonderful time with their little friends, us grown ups had a super visit. We let the girls stay up late and then at the crack of dawn (5:45am!) they were up again ready to go. After more fun with our friends we headed to Scott's parents' home for a bbq lunch and spent the whole day with them. Very busy weekend but so fun!! Thank you to Nikki and Rehman and girls for opening your home and the fantastic food and all the fun. It's so great to have you back in town again!

Lack of communication

It's been a few days since we last checked in. Allie came down with croup last week and a few days later shared it with Mollie so we have been laying quiet and low until today. Today is Mollie's last day of dance class AND the last day of preschool. Poor little thing is going from no activity to a very busy day. There's no way I can keep her home today with what we have going on. Tomorrow is her first dance recital with a fun weekend planned if the girls are well enough.

Happy summer vacation to you and we will be checking in next week again.

Last week we celebrated Scott's birthday with a Lost Finale theme. The party was fun because of the help everyone pitched in. Thanks! Scott came up with a design for his cake and we worked on it together. Usually cooking together isn't a favorite activity, but this ended up as a fun project.Scott printed out a few pages of his idea of turning his cake into a hatch and how - including measurements.
Scott made fondant for the hatch and used a silver baking paint for it. I made the surrounding grass. Details in models is something Scott loves to do, so he took care of the dirt effect with cocoa powder and the other additions. All this inspired by Lost and Duff.

Tuesday was just one of those all around good days. We spent the morning at a park with friends and both girls wanted to play in the water together. All afternoon Mollie and Allie played so well together. It's fun to see them get along more as Allie is growing older. Growing older. sigh.
