Taste of Summer

Today was beautiful outside! Perfectly sunny and warm. So off we went to the beach! The tide was really low this afternoon and we took advantage by going to Natural Bridges to see tide pools. Well, the pools we saw up on the rocks didn't show us very much. Not like we were hoping. If we had gone further along maybe we would have seem things, but it was getting to be a difficult climb for the little ones.

Here is Allie showing you a little pool up on the rocks.

We explored along the sand among the rock formation and saw lots of starfish and other things that I can't spell. With the tide so incredibly low we got to go under the bridge and saw a ton of sea life. This was what we had hoped for! On top sat a pelican.
Before heading down to the water we made a stop into the Visitor Center. Mollie had made a sea life picture for the rangers that work there. We also picked up a little book to explain to us what we were looking at. Honestly, I had more fun with the volunteer down under the bridge who pointed out what things were to Allie and I than I did with the book. I learned about sponge and their mouths. Allie learned that clams squirt water. But Mollie loves this book and wanted to look everything up. She preferred this method to getting close to anything.
Quick family picture taken by our friend we met there.
Girls saw their first beach sunset. Usually Allie is concerned about being out after dark. When the sun goes to bed she should be home. But it never came up tonight. Then once we got back into town we watched the full yellow moon rise over the trees. Beautiful day.
